    Before You Ask...

Find answers to common questions about booking, safety, and travel logistics in Peru.

How far in advance should I book?

For treks like the Inca Trail, we recommend booking at least 4-6 months in advance due to permit limitations. For other tours like Salkantay or Rainbow Mountain, 2-4 weeks is usually sufficient.

    What is the payment policy?

To confirm a reservation, we require a deposit (usually 30-50%). The remaining balance can be paid upon arrival in Cuzco, either in cash or via credit card (with a small transaction fee).

    Do you offer private tours?

Yes! All our experiences can be booked as private tours. This allows for a flexible itinerary and the exclusive attention of our guide. Please mention this preference when contacting us.

Can you help with hotel bookings?

Absolutely. We can arrange accommodation that fits your budget and style, from cozy B&Bs to luxury hotels in Cuzco, Sacred Valley, and Aguas Calientes.

Do you cater to dietary restrictions?

Yes, our mountain chefs are experts in accommodating all dietary needs. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or have specific allergies, simply let us know at the time of booking.

    Is it suitable for children?

Many of our cultural tours are family-friendly. For high-altitude treks, we recommend children be at least 12 years old and active. We can customize itineraries for families.

Do I need my own camping gear?

We provide high-quality 4-season tents, dining tents, and mats. You only need to bring personal clothing and a sleeping bag (available for rent).

Where do I leave my extra luggage?

Extra luggage can be stored safely at your hotel in Cuzco (most offer this for free) or at our Four Ways Expeditions office during your trek.

    Is hotel pick-up included?

Yes, for all our tours and treks, we include pick-up from your hotel or Airbnb in the center of Cuzco or the Sacred Valley.

How fit do I need to be?

For cultural tours, standard fitness is fine. For multi-day treks like the Inca Trail, a moderate to high level of fitness is recommended. We advise cardio training before your trip.

    Is travel insurance mandatory?

While not legally mandatory to enter Peru, we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, evacuation, and trip cancellations for your peace of mind.

Can I drink the tap water?

No, tap water in Peru is not potable. We recommend drinking only bottled or boiled water. On our treks, we provide safe, boiled, and cooled water to refill your bottles daily.

    What currency should I bring?

The local currency is Soles (PEN). While USD is accepted in many tourist places, it is best to have Soles for small purchases, taxis, and local markets. ATMs are widely available in Cuzco.

Is there WiFi on the treks?

Most trekking routes are remote and do not have WiFi or cell signal, making it a perfect digital detox. Some campsites on the Salkantay trek may offer paid WiFi, but it is not reliable.

    Is tipping customary?

Tipping is not mandatory but is a grateful way to show appreciation for the hard work of guides, porters, and chefs. The amount is entirely up to you and your level of satisfaction.
