Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your trip.

How long does the Ausangate Trek 4D/3N take, along with how far is it altogether?

Four complete days make up the journey, roughly 46 kilometers in total. The path does not rush, yet it never rests.

How high does the trek go at its peak?

At 5,000 meters, Ausangate Pass marks our peak. Snowy summits wrap around it, along with breathtaking ice flows.

How tough is this hike on your body?

A steady climb waits ahead, mixing rough ground with sharp inclines. Moving at a personal rhythm helps conserve energy over long hours. Altitude tests everyone differently, so pauses feel natural now and then.

Does someone need past hiking trips before starting this walk?

Walking together, we’ll keep a calm rhythm, pausing often. Comfort matters most, so the team checks in as we go. Past hikes? Good. New to trails? That works too. Support stays strong either way.

What steps help people get ready for thin air at elevation?

Starting with coca tea could ease the shift. Hydration matters just as much, so sipping water stays key. Meals that are lighter tend to sit better up here. Slowing down isn’t optional - it fits into how we adjust.

What type of accommodation is provided during the Ausangate Trek 4D/3N?

A small tent waits every night for three rounds under open skies. Inside each one you find a pad to lie on, plus a thick sack full of warmth when it cools down.

Meals during the trek - do they happen every day?

Each day brings three full meals. Fresh Andean food appears on plates. Mornings start with breakfast, followed by lunch, then dinner - each one served without fail.

Besides hiking, could warm spring pools be part of the journey?

For sure. Time slows down at Upis and Pacchanta where warm water rises from the earth. Rest comes easily in hotsprings.

What is the best season to complete the Ausangate Trek 4D/3N?

April through October brings dry weather. Clear skies appear most days. Trails become easier underfoot. Mountains show vivid colors then. Glaciers look striking in the sunlight.
